It’s not everyday you see children bouncing high in front of the town hall, but that’s exactly what happened in 1987.
The Cornhill has played host to many different events over the years with groups taking advantage of the open space to put on performances such as open air theatres and parades.
In this case, large trampolines were moved onto the Cornhill for a showcase for the residents of Ipswich.
Ipswich has a number of trampolining clubs training those with an interest in the sport, teaching beginners the basics from tuck and straddle jumps to the more intricate flips and somersaults.
Dave Kindred, who was one of our staff photographers at the time, captured the affair, with the angle of some of his pictures making it look as though the performers were jumping higher than the town hall!
