BRITISH summer time begins this weekend with clocks moving forward by one hour at 1am on Sunday.

This means at 1am the time will move forward to 2am.

Since 1981 EC Directives have prescribed the start and end dates of summer time in member states. These are set as the last Sundays in March and October respectively and are in line with those already operating in the United Kingdom.

There have been discussions in the past to change the UK's time zone to Central European Time but there are no currently there are no plans to implement this.
