FIRE investigators are today treating a double car fire in Ipswich as arson.

A crew from Princes Street, Ipswich, was called to Pipers Vale, off Sandyhill Lane, near the Orwell Country Park, 5.16am today, and found two cars on fire.

Two fire fighters had to wear breathing apparatus to extinguish the blaze, which they did in 30 minutes.

The man in charge of fire fighters at the scene, Sub Officer Will Tell, said: "The fires are being treated as suspicious, and most likely to be the result of arson. One car was a Ford Escort and the other a Vauxhall Astra.

"Our fire fighters carried out a routine job and police officers also attended."
