The latest ActivIpswich kurling competition featured more than 50 over 45s enjoying the social sport at Whitton Sports Centre on Tuesday.

The game is based on the ice curling Winter Olympic sport, and has been a popular part of the ActivIpswich programme to get those aged 45 and above into regular activity in a social setting.

Among other sports it runs is badminton, walking football, archery, bowls, boccia and tennis.

ActivIpswich project manager Mike McCarthy said: “Many of our regular participants are in their 60s, 70s and even 80s. It is absolutely brilliant to see so many people getting involved in regular social sport.”

He added: “These competitions provide an opportunity for people to come together from the various groups, to pit their skills against each other and of course, to enjoy themselves.”
