EMERGENCY services were called to Felixstowe today after a car crashed into the wall of a hotel.

A Volvo S40 automatic car hit the wall of the Elizabeth Hotel in Hamilton Road about 12.15pm today.

The car is not thought to have hit the wall at speed and no one is believed to have been seriously injured in the crash.

It is believed the driver got his foot caught on the accelerator as he left the car park at the doctor's surgery opposite the hotel.

The car went across the Hamilton Road, missing other vehicles using the busy main street, and hit the side of the hotel.

The driver was treated for shock by paramedics, but was not thought to be seriously injured. There were two elderly people in the car and a spinal board was taken to the scene as a precaution to take them to hospital for a check-up.

Police were called to the scene of the drama, and the car was due to be taken away. Its bonnet was badly bent.

Meanwhile, paramedics were also at the scene of a crash between a motorbike and a pushbike in Ipswich.

The collision happened about 12.10pm at the junction of Woodbridge Road and Palmerston Road.

One person suffered knee injuries in the accident and another was shaken up - but there were no serious injuries.
