A London drug dealer accused of murdering a Trimley man has told a court he saw him holding his stomach after meeting an Ipswich man to buy drugs.

Giving evidence at Ipswich Crown Court today Daniel Kaganda said he was working for the “AJ and Sky” drug supply ring in February last year and was based at a flat in Gippeswyk Road in Ipswich.

On the evening of February 8 he had sent Tecwyn Parker, who worked as a “runner” for the “AJ and Sky” line, to supply drugs to a man in Gippeswyk Park.

Kaganda said the customer had called the “AJ and Sky line” and he didn’t know his name, only the location where the deal was going to take place.

He said shortly after leaving the flat Parker had come back and said he was worried he was going to be robbed because the customer had his face covered.

Kaganda had contacted the “AJ and Sky” line and was told to go out with Parker while he did the deal.

He said he saw Parker walk down the road towards the customer and then saw the customer leaning forward with his hand near his stomach.

He claimed Parker had then run past him on his way back to the flat in Gippeswyk Road where they had been based.

Asked by his barrister Paul Keleher QC if he knew what had happened during the drugs deal with the customer Kaganda replied: “I didn’t know.”

Kaganda, 24, of London, Tecwyn Parker, 48, formerly of Downside Close, Ipswich, Jason Ruby, 45, of Risby Close, Ipswich and Amiadul Islam, 25, of London, have denied murdering 41-year-old Dean Stansby on February 8 last year.

Ruby has also denied conspiracy to supply heroin and crack cocaine between November 10 and July 6 2017.

The court has heard that Mr Stansby came into Ipswich on the evening of his death to buy drugs from the “AJ and Sky” supply ring.

Joseph Hallam QC, prosecuting, claimed Parker, Kaganda and Ruby had confronted Mr Stansby in retaliation for an earlier incident in which he had allegedly tried to rob Parker of some drugs.

Mr Hallam claimed that Islam was in telephone contact with them during the confrontation and was encouraging what was happening.

The trial continues.
