A COURT case involving former Ipswich Town star Kieron Dyer was heard in his absence today.
The £22 million-rated midfielder, who now plays for Newcastle United, is charged with allowing his friend James Leech to drive his BMW X without insurance.
The alleged offence is said to have occurred on Rougham Road, Bury St Edmunds, on August 8.
Leech, 23, of Brookfield Road, Ipswich, faces charges of driving without insurance and failing to provide insurance.
Leech appeared at Sudbury Magistrates Court today but the case was adjourned.
Barry Warburton, representing both defendants, indicated that 23-year-old Dyer would enter a not guilty plea to the charge at this stage.
Leech, Dyer's friend from his Westbourne High School days, has yet to enter a plea to the charges. Both men are due to appear in the same court on April 5.
Dyer, who was excused attending court today, has been named in the Newcastle squad to face Ipswich tomorrow.
He signed for the St James's Park club for £6 million in July 1999.
