Former Ipswich Town favourite Kieron Dyer has vowed to put his injuries behind him and prove himself to new club QPR.

Dyer, 32, has had a career beset by injuries, and joined newly-promoted QPR on a free transfer this summer after being released by West Ham United.

The Ipswich-born midfielder, who played more than 100 games for the Blues - including a brief loan spell back at Portman Road last season - has promised to prove himself at his new club.

“I’m delighted to be here,” he said.

“QPR are an ambitious club and when I sat down with (manager) Neil (Warnock) and he explained the vision for the club, specifically the hunger and the determination of the squad, I just wanted to be part of it.

“The aim is to stay injury-free. I don’t want to do anything stupid.”

Dyer’s injury problems began at Newcastle United after his 6 million move from Town in 1999. He then broke his leg in two places in 2007, which nearly ended his career.

A succession of injuries at West Ham restricted him to just 16 starts during his four-year stint.

Dyer said: “The last few years have been a nightmare because all you want to do is play football and what made it worse last season was we got relegated.

“If I was on the pitch I think I could have helped West Ham stay in the Premier League.”
