The Met Office increases weather warning from yellow to amber for snow as the 'Beast from the East' weather front hits the region.

The Met Office has issued an amber weather warning for heavy snow between 2am and 12pm on Tuesday in Suffolk.

Snow showers or longer periods of snow are expected on Tuesday, accompanied by very low temperatures.

This is an update to extend the warning further north into coastal Suffolk and a little further west across across southeast England.

According to the Met Office, there is the likelihood of travel delays on roads, with some stranded vehicles and passengers, as well as delays or cancellations to rail and air travel.

They also warn that some rural communities could become cut off and power cuts may also occur.

Other services, such as mobile phones, may be affected.

Snow and icy cold temperatures are predicted for the whole week in East Anglia, known as ‘the beast of the east’.

Ipswich is currently experiencing a blizzard of snow, which seems to be settling on the ground.

Forecaster, Dan Holley, from weatherquest saidL “It is one of the snowiest patches of weather we have seen for some time.

“There is a chance we will see more that 5 - 10cm of snow.”
