College farm manager Tony Buttle said students had picked up a host of awards.

They included a number of rosettes in the livestock classes as well as horticulture awards.

“This is the best that I’ve known the college has done in many a year. We received a second, third and a fourth in commercial beef categories. With the Red Poll, we gained a first, a third and a young handler got a reserve champion. So overall, I’m very proud of the students,” he said.

Horticultural students scooped a gold medal for a sustainable garden design, and floristry students picked up a silver gilt award for their display and construction students won first prize in a carpentry skills challenge.

Otley-based farm student Charlotte Keyland said: “It was hard work and challenging but overall I really enjoyed it.”
