True, Derby County players turned in their worst display for weeks - but the job had to be finished and Town scored two good goals and kept a clean sheet into the bargain. Well done to the strike force, Pablo and Jon, for their goals.
Not that there's much time to celebrate - the Blues move on to the other Blues, Birmingham City, tomorrow night at St Andrews. That will be a real test of manager Magilton's away credentials after the debacle that was Doncaster eight days ago.
Birmingham and neighbours Wolves are romping away at the top of the table - there's a 10-point gap between Ipswich and the second place currently held by the team from St Andrews.
But if Town rise to the occasion and nail the "other" Blues, then the gap will be down to seven!
If Jim and Co need any inspiration, they need to look no further than the Seasiders of Blackpool, a team Town beat 0-1 at Bloomfield Road recently.
Blackpool's best result of the season was an away at . . . St Andrews. Perhaps manager Jim should give manager Simon Grayson a call to see how the Tangerines pulled off their own away spectacular!
