An e-fit image of a man wanted after an elderly victim was conned into handing over a large sum of money has been released.

Suffolk police would like to trace this man after an elderly woman was scammed out of a large amount of money in Ipswich.

On Thursday June 11, at around 1pm, an elderly woman in the Castle Hill area received a phone call at her home address from a man stating he was from Scotland Yard.

He said that there had been a fraudulent transaction on her bank account, so she needed to empty all of her accounts and forward the money to them.

The money would then be returned to her at a later stage, along with a reward for her co-operation.

Later that day, the elderly woman went into Ipswich and withdrew money from her accounts, transferring it to an account the caller had given her details of.

The man called the elderly woman back numerous times and she further withdrew a large amount of cash on Saturday June 13 and placed this in a bag, leaving it under a vehicle in Dale Hall Lane as instructed by the caller.

A man also called at her home address to collect another large amount of cash around 3pm the same day.

The man in the e-fit, who turned up at the address, is described as having dark coloured short hair, ‘short’ in height, aged in his mid to early thirties and was wearing a beige tracksuit.

If you recognise the man in the e-fit or have any information relating to this crime should contact DC Donna Whelan-Smith from Ipswich CID quoting IW/15/2417 on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
