Elderly man assaulted in Alderman Road park after Ipswich Town match

Police have released a description of a suspect after an elderly man was assaulted in Alderman Road park after the Ipswich Town match last night.

The elderly man was assaulted in the park, opposite Portman Road football stadium, at around 9.50pm last night, Suffolk Constabulary said. Ipswich Town drew 2-2 with Sheffield Wednesday, after the visitors scored an injury-time equaliser.

The suspect is alleged to have assaulted other people jumped “in and out of traffic”, police said.

The East of England Ambulance Service Trust said it was not called to the incident.

At approximately 21:50hrs on Wednesday 22 November 2017 an elderly male was assaulted by a male suspect who also made threats towards him.

The suspect is described as male white, 6ft 3inches tall, aged between 23-25 years old, with an English accent. Blond hair wearing skinny jeans and a navy jacket.

Just prior to this assault a male fitting this description was reporting having assaulted other members of the public and seen to be jumping in and out of traffic.

There would have been numerous persons in the area on foot and in vehicles at this time as this was shortly after the Ipswich Town football match ended.

Police are appealing for people who may have witnessed this, who were involved in this incident or recognise the description to telephone 101 and quote Incident number 37/75220/17.
