Emergency services have been called to reports that a child has been hit by a car in Felixstowe this afternoon.

Paramedics from the East of England Ambulance Service were called at 4.45pm to Langer Road, just outside the Summit Business Park.

A spokesman from the ambulance service said it was reported as a child having been hit by a car, believed to be a white BMW, although the boy was actually aged in his late teens according to police.

A rapid response vehicle and an ambulance were both on the scene within three minutes.

The spokesman said the boy is reported to have suffered a head injury, but his injuries were not life-threatening or life-changing.

An air ambulance was also called, but the youngster was transported to Ipswich hospital by land ambulance.

Police officers were also called to the scene as the road was blocked in both directions, but re-opened shortly after 6pm.
