An annual charity fun run at Christchurch Park in Ipswich has been launched.

Young families, keen runners and fundraisers of all ages and ability can now enter The Big Fun Run 2016, which takes place at 11am on Saturday, October 15.

The 5k challenge is not competitive or timed, and runners can turn up in fancy dress.

Neil Kilgour, event director of the Big Fun Run, said: “Tens of thousands of people take part in Big Fun Run every year and it attracts people of all shapes, sizes and ages.

“No event is timed – it is all about having fun and raising funds for a charity close to your heart. Each run has a friendly atmosphere while offering an achievable challenge.”

For adults, aged 16-64, it costs £12.49 per person. It costs £10.49 per person for children, aged five to 15, and the over-65s. It is free for children aged under five.

The event also features a Big Fun Warm up, a finisher’s medal and a goody bag.

An event spokesman added: “The Ipswich Big Fun Run takes in two loops of the picturesque park. The route will pass by the children’s play area, tennis courts and the round pond. The route includes a short distance across grass and will make use of new pathways.”
