New services with drive-thru restaurant and coffee shop planned for Ipswich

Plans have been lodged for a new service station along one of Ipswich’s busiest routes.

Euro Garages Ltd has submitted an application to demolish the Hubbard warehouse buildings on the busy junction connecting Ransomes Europark, Nacton Road and the Ravenswood estate, and build a new service station.
It will include a petrol station, drive-through coffee shop and restaurant.
MORE: New Wherstead services approvedIn the application, the developers said: “The proposed development aims to bring jobs, amenity, and access which will represent a positive contribution to the local area.
“The proposal will provide an additional level of amenity to the Ransomes Industrial Estate.

“The design of the site has been carefully considered to maximise space and circulation.

Work started this week on a brand new unit on the nearby Futura Park for Hubbard Products, which will vacate the buildings on its current site at the entrance to Ransomes Europark.
The area is a key route for connecting Ipswich town centre with the retail and industrial park at Ransomes, The Sandlings and Futura Park, as well as being a key corridor for freight coming off the A14.

Potential occupiers for the drive-through coffee shop have not yet been confirmed, but brands including Starbucks, Subway, KFC, Greggs and Burger King are among those the company works with at other service station developments.
It has not yet been announced how many jobs the site would create if planning permission is approved, but similar developments by Euro Garages elsewhere in Suffolk are set to provide between 20 and 40 new full-time roles.
MORE: Approval given for new services at SproughtonThe company has already had plans for new services close to the A14 at Wherstead and Sproughton approved, while a bid for a new services off the A14 near Needham Market are also in the planning system.
A further application to develop a site off the A14 at Bury St Edmunds had been lodged by the firm, but was withdrawn in April shortly before it was due for a decision.
The reasons for the withdrawal of the application has not been made clear or whether a revised application will be submitted in the future.
