HOMES had to be evacuated today after a man threatened to blow up his house by leaving the gas on.
HOMES had to be evacuated today after a man threatened to blow up his house by leaving the gas on.
The drama unfolded at about 12.15am in Nightingale Road, Ipswich.
Suffolk police officers were sent to the scene to get people out of their houses and away from any danger.
A 35-year-old man was later arrested.
A spokesman for Suffolk police said: “Approximately 27 people were evacuated from their homes in the Gainsborough area of Ipswich following a report of leaking gas in the area.
“Occupants were later returned to their homes.”
