LET'S do it for Vicky!

Today The Evening Star launches its annual special Christmas Appeal and this year we want to show that good can come from evil.

The project to build a memorial to murdered teenage schoolgirl Vicky Hall needs just £20,000 more from local fundraising – and we are urging you to help us reach that target.

That sum will be a vital milestone for the memorial fund because it will mean the trustees can make their application to the National Lottery for help to bring the £200,000 project to a conclusion and to get it built next year.

And we can do it, if we all pull together.

The bid to provide a memorial – a sports pavilion for use mostly by children – to the sixth former has been a great source of comfort to her parents Graham and Lorinda, of Faulkeners Way, Trimley St Mary.

We can really help them now by showing them that we care and that we are behind them in their dream of having a first-class tribute to their precious daughter who was so cruelly taken from them, and something which will benefit the whole community.

There are many ways Evening Star readers can help support our Christmas appeal to build a memorial to murdered teenager Vicky Hall.

The easiest way is to send a donation – a Christmas gift to the fund.

To do this, cheques should be made payable to the Vicky Hall Memorial Fund and should be sent to Geraldine Thompson, Evening Star, Press House, 30 Lower Brook Street, Ipswich, Suffolk, IP4 1AN.

The money will be paid into the special account set up by the trustees of the fund.

People can also donate via the collection boxes at The Evening Star Christmas tree on the Cornhill in Ipswich town centre.

And people can also hold fundraising events or sponsored activities for the appeal – and we will help you in any way we can.

We can provide publicity for any upcoming event in the Evening Star and coverage of it, too, on the day, and provide promotional help with ideas, posters and other materials.

If you have an event to publicise, contact Richard Cornwell, Felixstowe Newsdesk on 01394 284109, or the Ipswich Newsdesk on 01473 282257. Email starnews@ecng.co.uk
