THE Evening Star picked up two top industry accolades today at the Press Gazette awards in London.
The paper won the Newspaper of the Year category along with the Subbing Team of the Year award.
BBC Breakfast TV presenter, Bill Turnbull, who handed out the awards said: “The winners were on a level of their own. An unforgettable series of splashes, spreads and sections saw this paper placed first by every judge.
“There were regular signs of confident leadership inspiring some fine colourful detailed subbing with almost every story having an old-fashioned, nicely crafted intro, middle and end.
“While the reporting and photography involved was of the highest order this is held together only by first class committed subs.”
