DO you recognise any of the people in this photograph?

If so, you could help to fill in some details for a former Ipswich man who is trying to compile a family history – and maybe put him in touch with some old family friends.

David Clarke, 52, now lives in Lee Road, Dovercourt, but was born in Ipswich and still has the Evening Star sent to him by a friend in the town.

He has been putting together a family history, and wants to trace some friends of his older brother, Bryan, who sadly died aged only 18 in January 1954, after an illness.

David and his brother John sorted through some family photographs after the death of their mother, and they came across a picture of Bryan and his girlfriend, Barbara, together with another young couple.

Now, through the Star's Finding Friends service, they are trying to find the other three people in the picture and share their memories of Bryan.

"I remember Mum said that the other girl in the picture was called Hazel, and I think the other boy was Bill Brown," said David.

"We think the photograph was taken in 1952 or 53. Bryan would have been 66 now, so these three would all be about the same age if they are still alive. We just thought it would be nice to get in touch with them, especially with Barbara."

The family lived at 108 Spring Road, and David said he believed Bryan worked as a lorry driver. "I was only four when he died, so I don't remember very much about him."
