The ex-Blues goalkeeper, who now plays for Everton, was treated at Ipswich Hospital yesterday evening following the accident at his parent's home in the town.
It is believed the 25-year-old England star, who grew up in Ipswich, suffered a shoulder injury in the incident.
Jan Rowsell, a spokeswoman for Ipswich Hospital, said: "I can confirm that Richard Wright did attend the Accident and Emergency Department of Ipswich Hospital this evening.
"He had a minor injury, which he received treatment for, and was due to return home."
Wright made his name at Portman Road, helping the Blues into the Premier League and establishing himself as a leading candidate for the England squad.
He left the club in July 2001, after Premiership giants Arsenal paid £5 million to take him to London as David Seaman's replacement.
But he suffered through a disappointing season in the country's capital and, a year after leaving Ipswich, he was sold to Everton for £3.5 million.
