An Ipswich school playing field was transformed into a sea of colour as runners young and old took on a race for charity.

More than £1,100 was raised during St Joseph’s College’s second annual Colour Run, which this year supported East Anglian Air Ambulance and Cancer Research UK.

Participants ranged from nursery children up to upper sixth form students, and they were joined by plucky parents, friends and staff during the event on Wednesday, May 17.

The two chosen charities have a “special place in the hearts of the college community”, according to school bosses.

Anyone heading towards the finish line with a clean spot on their T-shirt was covered with coloured powder during the ‘final throw’.

Danielle Clarke, principal of St Joseph’s College, said: “The warm, family atmosphere of the school was perfectly on display with everyone sharing the fun and magic. Even the weather cooperated.

“We are delighted to have raised over £1,100 for two extremely good causes, topping last year’s Colour Run total of £978.”
