Greater Anglia has announced that it will run two extra trains to take home concert-goers after Elton John’s gig later this month.

The legendary singer is bringing his Wonderful Crazy Night Tour to Portman Road football stadium, the home of Ipswich Town FC, on Saturday, June 17. It starts at 5pm.

The region’s train operator said that an extra train will run from Ipswich to Norwich at 11.15pm and from Ipswich to London Liverpool Street at 11.18pm.

James Reeve, area customer service manager at Greater Anglia, said: “We know that Elton John’s concert is going to be hugely popular, so we wanted to make sure that fans could get home safely afterwards.

“I’m very happy that we’ve been able to put on two extra trains to coincide with the end of the concert. We will be using all of our available trains and carriages, but we are still expecting trains to be very busy on the night.”
