THOUSANDS of visitors flocked to the second day of the increasingly popular Eye Show and Country Fair.

The long-running show, which got under way on Sunday, is in its third year at its new parkland venue at Goodrich Park in Palgrave.

Les Howard, a spokesman for the event, said he had never known the show to be so busy.

“I have been involved with the show for years and I have never seen crowds like this before,” he said.

“I think today was perfect show weather - warm, but not too hot and slightly overcast - meaning that more people than ever have come here rather than heading to the beach for their Bank Holiday.”

He added: “This year's show really has had something for everyone and all of the visitors seem to be having a good time.

“Hopefully this year's excellent turnout will mean that even more visitors and exhibitors will want to come along next year.”

Show-goers held their breath as the Bolddog Lings Mini Bike Team, from Harleston, took to the main arena with a stunning display of airborne tricks and stunts.

Other highlights included a display of blindfold driving, dancing dogs with Richard Curtis, a falconry display and the London Fire Brigade parachute team.

The show has a long history as it started in 1915 as a horticultural exhibition, but in 1963 the Seeley family, its current directors, got involved and introduced many of the entertainments that have seen the whole family attend this popular event ever since.
