HIS dulcet tones have been piped into millions of homes over the years but this summer, Eric Dixon will be gracing the stage for the Evening Star Press Ball.

Mr Dixon is currently the voice behind the Homebase adverts and will also be recognised for his presenting work on Radio 5 live as well as hosting Gardeners World Live, The Clothes Show and the BBC's Good Homes Show.

However on June 25 he is more than happy to help create the magic at the Starry Potter themed Press Ball to help boost the lives of youngsters with disabilities.

He will be the host at the Press Ball, being held at the County Hotel Copdock which is aiming to raise tens of thousands of pounds for Disability Care Enterprise (DCE).

Mr Dixon has his own booth at home and so can do voice-overs down the phone.

And he said he is looking forward to the evening, which he has already done voice-overs for in previous years.

He said: "When you are stuck in a booth most of the time it is nice to get out.

"I enjoy the buzz that a live show gives you."

On the night there will be a huge auction, which in the past has raised more than £20,000 for DCE as well as a raffle.

Videos will also be shown of the youngsters people are helping to raise the money for.

Mr Dixon said: "DCE is a superb organisation in the work that they do.

"One year I was very struck by the fact that one family who had benefited were present.

"They have obviously done some fantastic work."

Tables for the Press Ball are rapidly being snapped up and only a few remain.

Tickets cost £75 each and anyone who wants one should call Ben Collins on 01473 324844.

n. This year we want to help the children as much as we can and have set up the Press Ball Fund to really get the community involved.

By fundraising, doing sponsored events, of just donating a few spare pounds you can really help add to the happiness of one of the families helped by the Press Ball.

Let us know of any fundraisers or sponsored events you are doing and we can publicise them for you to help you get as much money as possible.
