AN Ipswich family man chauffeured London drug dealers around the town and helped set up a deal in exchange for free drugs and money, a court heard.
Miah Atick who was married with two children told police he had moved to Ashcroft Road in Ipswich from Birmingham to start a new life away from drugs.
Ipswich Crown Court heard that the heroin addict said he started reusing the drug occasionally and soon regained his habit and became involved in drug dealing to feed his addiction.
Peter Gair, prosecuting, said: “He told police he was a heroin user, he had been driving London-based drug dealers around Ipswich to supply drugs and his reward for this task was to get a few wraps of heroin for his own use.”
He added: “He started up a business and had borrowed money from another person and that person wanted to get into the heroin dealing trade in Ipswich.”
Mr Gair said Atick “acted as a go between between London dealers and this local man” in return for £100 off his debt.

That connection resulted in the search of an address in Arundle Way where 68.8 grams of heroin with a street value of £6,000 were found.
Atick pleaded guilty to supplying class A drugs.
Neil Macaulay mitigating for Atick said his client had been remanded in custody since October 3 last year. He said Atick's previous convictions had been dealt with at South East Suffolk Magistrates' Court. He added: “This is by far the most serious offence for which he has appeared before any court and it is the first in connection with the supply of drugs.”
Judge John Devaux adjourned sentencing until Friday.
