Family preparing for fun fundraiser for tragic Sian

IPSWICH: Football, fun, family and friends – all the things that made teenager Sian Ryan smile.

The family of the 16-year-old are today putting the finishing touches to a charity bonanza being held in her memory.

Sian’s Summer Fun Day is taking place tomorrow from noon to 4pm at Copleston High School, where Sian was a pupil until her untimely death last year.

Sian was killed in a car accident on the A14 on August 17.

As the first anniversary of her death approaches her family are urging people to support their fundraising mission –to raise as much as possible for the East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices Treehouse appeal and the Sian Ryan Sports Foundation.

One of Sian’s four older sisters Keely Walker said: “We just want to do something positive in Sian’s memory and something fun.

“We are hoping to make it a huge success so that it will be an annual event.”

There will be activities for all ages at the event, a 5-a-side football match between two of Sian’s sisters Zoe Walker and Annalise Ryan, fun stalls, face painting, a raffle and much more.

Miss Walker added: “We want to thank everyone who has been involved and supported us.

“It’s impossible to list everyone right now but we wouldn’t have been able to do it without all the support. We don’t have a target but are just hoping to raise as much as possible and have fun in the process.

“Sian would love to see her picture everywhere and she would be proud of all of us. I’m sure she’ll be there on the day playing jokes on us!”
