Ben Nisbet would have been 35 later this month but passed away at his home in London three weeks ago.

Ben was brought up in Ipswich attending Hillside Primary School before later moving to Farlingaye High School in Woodbridge.

He spent much of his younger years as an outpatient at Ipswich Hospital after suffering from asthma and breathing problems.

His mum and step-dad Sue and Nick Goward said that he became well acquainted with staff at the hospital and even ended up having one of his birthday parties on the ward.

Ben recovered gradually as he grew older moving to Aberystwyth University where he studied Computer Science but often returning to Rendlesham to visit his family.

Ben then worked as a software engineer in London for a variety of companies including Honda and the Ministry of Justice.

It was while living in London with his brother Matt, that Ben passed away.

“Matt was his best friend,” said Mrs Goward.

Mr Goward added: “I never heard anyone say a bad word about him.”

Mr and Mrs Goward have been touched by the support they have received in the wake of Ben’s death.

“We would like to thank everyone throughout the last three weeks of shock, devastation and disbelief,” said the couple.

“We have been touched by the kind messages and cards.”

In particular Mrs Goward wanted to thank local choir Pop Chorus of which she is a member: “I want to thank Yula and the members for their support.”

Mr and Mrs Goward are also hoping to reach out to people who may have known Ben: “We are hoping that anyone who knew him at school or in hospital.”

Ben’s funeral will be taking place on Wednesday at 1pm at St Felix Church in Rendlesham.

An internment will be taking place at Ipswich Lawn Cemetery afterwards where Ben will be interred with his grandfather Alex.
