YOUNGSTERS said sad farewells to three teachers as they retired with 60 years' service between them.

Deputy head Ann Montagu , and teachers Pat O'Mahony and Rosemary Ellitson worked at Maidstone Infants in Felixstowe for around 20 years each.

Presentations were made to the teachers to mark their retirements.

Headteacher Lizzie Girling said the trio had made a huge contribution to the school.

And she said the long-serving trio would be greatly missed by staff, pupils and parents.

She continued: “The lovely thing when you have teachers work so long at a school is continuity - they really get to know the children and their families,” said Mrs Girling.

“These teachers are now teaching the children of some parents who they taught here as pupils.

“They have all been excellent members of staff and Ann Montagu as my deputy has been the best I could have wished for.”

The new term in September will be a new start for the whole school with three new teachers to get to know.
