GROUPS of young farmers converged on Easton Farm Park near Woodbridge for the Suffolk Young Farmers' Association competition day.The association's county chair Tory Rutherford said the day had included qualifying heats, including a quad bike challenge to pick contestants from the Eastern Region to go forward to the national competitions.
GROUPS of young farmers converged on Easton Farm Park near Woodbridge for the Suffolk Young Farmers' Association competition day.
The association's county chair Tory Rutherford said the day had included qualifying heats, including a quad bike challenge to pick contestants from the Eastern Region to go forward to the national competitions.
There were also county competitions for everything from tractor handling to kite making and flying, flower arranging and cake decoration as well fun competitions including a raft race.
There was also a wool sack race and a push cart race in memory of a former member Garry Tompkins, of Yoxford, who had died in December 2001 after being crushed by a bull.
The day's overall winners of the junior section (for ages 10 to 16) were Deben Young Farmers and for the senior section (aged 16 to 30) Stowmarket Young Farmers.
