IPSWICH: Police are renewing appeals for a Russian sailor who is feared dead after he disappeared on Christmas Eve.
Alexi Dorofeev, 36, vanished from his British-registered ship, Daniel K, moored in Ipswich Port, on December 24, having gone ashore with two crew members to socialise.
But the ship's captain did not report him missing until Boxing Day as crew members assumed he had stayed on in Ipswich.
Police officers and coastguard teams from Holbrook and Felixstowe searched the shoreline of Orwell River this week as concerns for the seaman's safety grew.
Anyone who may have seen Alexi or knows about his whereabouts is urged to contact the duty inspector at Ipswich Police Station on 01473 613500.
