AFTER officiating at the 2012 Olympics shooting event, Bill Bond hopes a spot more travelling will be on the cards in 2016, following his retirement from a meter making firm.
Mr Bond, who is also vice-chairman of the Felixstowe Rifle Club, has retired from Itron Metering Solutions UK, which has a base in Langer Road, after 47 years of service.
During his time at the firm, he has seen major changes in the way products are made and he was also involved in the building of the factory.
He said: “I think there were five of us who started out as apprentices together.
“In those days we literally made everything ourselves.
“The methods of manufacturing has changed and the processes.”
Mr Bond now hopes to do some travelling with his wife, Claudia, and is also looking at ways to get more involved in target shooting.
During the summer of 2012, he attended the Games as an official in the shooting event – and there are hopes an invitation could be there for Rio in 2016 as an official.
He added: “I started getting invited to other international events. It might be possible to do that (2016 Games)."
