PEOPLE in desperate need of food will be able to get some essentials thanks to a charitable donation.

Staff at Tesco, in Hamilton Road, handed over three trolleys full of food to the town’s Salvation Army, for the organisation’s food store.

The initiative aims to help people in emergency and desperate cases get the food that they need.

Faye Martin, the Tesco store’s community champion, who helped to organise the donation, said: “It was really good and very much appreciated. They were really over the moon with it.”

The Salvation Army runs a number of clubs and events aimed at helping people in the town who are going through a number of difficult challenges.

Captain Richard Waters, of the Felixstowe Salvation Army, believes Tesco’s donation will be a huge help to people in the resort.

He added: “It was very generous of them.

“It’s really gratifying to think that other people are aware of the issues and are happy to help out.”
