The A14 and A154 have now reopened after a lorry collided with a bridge near Felixstowe.

The lorry came off the sliproad at the A154 and hit the bridge, causing roads to be closed.

Police received the call at 3.15pm after the vehicle, which was travelling to the Port of Felixstowe, went up the road’s embankment.

The underside of an A14 bridge was scraped by the Volvo heavy tractor articulated lorry, the trailer of which was empty.

A force spokeswoman said at the time: “The driver is out of the lorry and we are getting officers to the scene. An ambulance has also been called for.”

Slip roads in both directions were closed while the Highways Agency cleared up the scene, as well as the A154 Trinity Avenue in Felixstowe at Felixstowe Dock Gate 2.
