EXTRA CCTV cameras are set to be added to Felixstowe’s crime-busting network to protect the town hall from vandals, burglars and anti-social behaviour.

Cameras will be installed in the gardens alongside the civic centre in Undercliff Road West as part of the lottery-backed renovation of the resort’s seafront gardens.

Now Felixstowe Town Council is considering paying for some additional cameras to protect the town hall and also to keep watch over the pathway leading from Convalescent Hill to the South Cliff gardens at the rear of the building.

Town councillors Mike Stokell, Cyril Webb, Doreen Savage, Joan Sennington and Andy Smith met with Clark Skates, of camera company STC Solutions, to discuss four proposals, costs and operational issues.

It is hoped the cameras can be linked to the existing town CCTV system monitored at Felixstowe police station.

A preferred option was chosen and town clerk Caroline Barrett, technical officer Rosemary Jones and Mr Stokell were given authority to progress the project.
