A driver could be facing a ban and having his licence endorsed with 99 points after allegedly being caught speeding on the Orwell Bridge 11 times in just 25 days.

Vasile Cuica, of Highfield Road, Felixstowe, has been told to appear before South East Suffolk Magistrates’ Court in Ipswich next month.

The 20-year-old is accused of exceeding the average 60mph limit on the Orwell Bridge on 11 occasions, including twice in one day.

If proven, each allegation carries a three-point minimum penalty.

Cuica is also accused of 11 offences of failing to give information relating to the identification of the driver of the Volkswagen Bora said to have been speeding.

Each of those offences carry a six-point penalty if proven.

Cuica’s case was discussed at a behind-closed-doors single justice procedure court at the magistrates’ court.

A magistrate and a legal adviser assess the merits of each case discussed and decide if a motorist accused of offences should be fined or be ordered to appear before an open court.

Cuica will be told he must appear on May 12. He is accused of speeding on October 8, 11, 12, 18, 22, 26, 27, 29, and November 1. Cuica is also alleged to have broken the speed limit on two occasions on October 14.

The speeds he was said to be travelling at vary between 68mph and 87mph.

In a separate case Philip Dunmore, of Ferry Road, Sudbourne, near Woodbridge, is accused of three counts of speeding on the Orwell Bridge in a Mercedes SL63 between August 6 and September 9.
The speeds vary from 68mph to 70mph.

The 57-year-old is also alleged to have been speeding on the A12 at Stratford St Mary on September 11.

Dunmore also faces four accusations of failing to provide information about who was driving at the time of the alleged offences.

His trial is set for May 22.

The cases come after Yilmaz Kalayci, of Hervey St, Lowestoft, was given an 18-month driving ban by Ipswich magistrates last month for being caught speeding eight times on the Orwell Bridge and twice elsewhere in Suffolk.

The 42-year-old was also ordered to pay a total of £1,380 in fines and costs.
