Nicholas Morgan, of Blyford Way, Felixstowe, was sentenced to 10 months’ imprisonment by Ipswich Crown Court after admitting three counts of making indecent images of children. The offences involved more than 900 photographs and movies.

Morgan changed his name after being jailed for eight months at the same court in 2013 for breaching his sexual offences prevention order (SOPO).

At the time Morgan was using the name Nicholas Gregory and lived in Birkfield Drive, Ipswich.

The SOPO had been made in July 2010.

Morgan, 46, was first convicted in April 2004 under the surname of Gregory after having sex with a 13-year-old girl and amassing a huge library of child pornography. He was jailed for five years.

His latest sentence came after information was passed to Suffolk police that a suspect had been downloading pornographic images of children.

The name being used by the person involved was Tommy Tucker. However the IP address of the device being used was linked to Morgan’s home.

A message board on a web forum had been accessed offering photographs in exchange for videos.

Police executed a search warrant at Morgan’s home on July 16 last year.

Officers took away a laptop, a disk and a storage unit, all of which were found to have contained child pornography on them.

Among them were a total of 17 movies which were graded as Level A – the most serious category of indecent images of children.

In addition to his latest jail term Morgan was made subject to a sexual harm prevention order to run indefinitely and must sign the Sex Offenders’ Register for 10 years.

At the time of his sentencing in 2004 Judge Peter Thompson, told Ipswich Crown Court: “These were sadistic and painful activities for the children involved. I need not spell out the gross unpleasantness of all these images.”

Morgan, then of Wellington Street, Ipswich, had initially denied the offences stating that he was “flabbergasted” by the allegation from the teenage girl he later admitted having sexual intercourse with.

However, the multiple sclerosis sufferer subsequently pleaded guilty to indecently assaulting the 13-year-old girl and to taking indecent photographs of her. He also admitted to taking indecent pictures of a much younger girl.

A total of 2,327 pornographic images of children were discovered by police on Morgan’s three computers.

He also pleaded guilty to possessing indecent pictures of children, many of which were contained within a carrier bag of CDs.

Rupert Overbury, prosecuting, said Gregory used his girlfriend’s credit card to access child porn websites to avoid detection by police.

He said when Gregory was arrested he denied finding the pictures “erotic” and stated that he found them “disgusting and horrifying”.
