Traders in Felixstowe are hoping for one of their busiest days of the year on Saturday as the resort enjoys a day of festive season activities and entertainment.

The day will culminate with the switch-on of the glittering array of Christmas lights and the centrepiece tree on The Triangle – transforming the town centre into a festive fairyland.

Felixstowe Town Council has arranged for free parking to help attract even more people.

There will be a Christmas craft market with stalls throughout the shared space area of Hamilton Road from 10am to 5pm.

Organisers of the lighting display, Felixstowe Lions, have also arranged for food and charity stalls at The Canopy along with Santa’s grotto, and live entertainment all afternoon.

The Poloz Majorettes begin the entertainment at 1pm and highlights include FADOS with Songs from the Shows at 2.10pm, the Variations Choir at 2.45pm, and Team Spirit at 3.20pm.

There will be a children’s candlelight parade at 4.40pm, and Felixstowe Salvation Army Band will lead community carol singing before mayor Jan Garfield switches on the lights at 5pm.
