COASTGUARDS searched the sea off Landguard Point, Felixstowe, after receiving sightings of a red flare around 1am on Saturday.
Thames Coastguard broadcast an urgent message to all ships in the area, while a vessel from Harwich Haven Authority scanned the area using search lamps and radar. An onshore search was also carried out but nothing was found.
