MORE than 100 artists will this weekend be joining in one of Felixstowe’s most popular annual events in a packed day of art activities.

Thousands of visitors are expected for Art on the Prom, a chance for people to admire and buy some stunning work, enjoy performance pieces, music and drama, and get inspired to have a go themselves.

Along the prom between the Spa Gardens and the pier on Sunday from 10am to 4pm, artists from Suffolk, Norfolk, Essex, Birmingham, and London will show and sell original art including painting, photography, glass, jewellery, ceramics, fibre, sculpture, graphics and wood.

Children at Causton Junior, Kingsfleet Primary and Maidstone Road Infants schools in Felixstowe, and Rushmere Hall and Thomas Wolsey schools, have created a display of work called Felixstowe Shapes, Past and Present, working with artists sponsored by Jackamans and a grant from Activities Unlimited.

Young and old will be able to take part in workshops in the Spa Gardens to have a go at making mosaics, willow sculpting, stone painting, recycled art, dip dying and block print rubbing.

Throughout the day a variety of bands and entertainers will be performing, including Tutti Frutti Voices and the Ipswich Hospital Band, circus performers, award-winning parkour team Escape Reality, FADOS, and Addicted to Dance, who will also run workshops for under -12s.
