FERRY company Stena Line has reassured customers that the loss of a daily sailing from an Essex port will not be a permanent move.
From today the Stena Line HSS Discovery ferry will cease one of its daily crossings from Harwich International Port to the Hook of Holland until the end of next month.
But the company's North Sea Area Director, Pim De Lange, said the change was due to a new "low season schedule."
He said: "Every year we have a quiet period in January and February. The first week in January has about 50-60 per cent of our total sailings for the month.
"We decided to go full schedule for the first week in January and we have decided to go to one round trip a day after that until February 27."
However, the North Sea service will not be reduced from last year's as a new Ro-pax ferry has since been introduced to the route.
