DRIVERS are ignoring signs warning them not to use a restricted street in Ipswich town centre.

Police have reminded drivers that Lloyds Avenue has no access for cars and motorbikes between 9.30am and 4.30pm from Monday to Saturday.

Sgt Ashley Warby said, “It is evident that these traffic directions are not being complied with by road users. This causes disruption to taxi drivers and obstructs legitimate use of the rank for their business.”

Taxis and loading lorries are authorized to use the street but officers from Ipswich's safer neighbourhood team will be patrolling of the area and giving unauthorized vehicles 30 fines.
