Firefighters have been called to the scene of ground floor flat fire in Ipswich this evening.
Firefighters were called to Downside Close, just off Stoke Park Drive, at 5.24pm where a ground floor flat was said to be well alight.
All persons within the property were quickly accounted for and left in the care of the ambulance service.
The inside of the property has been left gutted by the blaze.
Four fire engines were called to the scene: two from Princes Street, one from Ipswich East and one from Stowmarket.
Watch commander Paul Carrington from Suffolk Fire and Rescue said: "We were called to a serious flat fire which involved a substantial kitchen fire.
"It was well alight when we got here but we got it under control relatively quickly.
"The damage is throughout the building but mainly within the kitchen. We have been clearing it out to make sure there aren't any hotspots leftover.
"At the moment we are currently investigating the cause of the fire."
Crews used two sets of breathing apparatus and one hose reel to deal with the fire.
Mr Carrington said that neighbours had been evacuated as a precaution but said that their properties had not been damaged.
