FIRE crews from Stowmarket, Long Melford and Bury St Edmunds were called out today to deal with two separate fires at Thorpe Morieux, near Lavenham, and at a derelict building on the A14 at Bury.

A blaze broke out in a gas heater at Pond House, Thorpe Morieux, just after 10am and crews had to don breathing equipment to deal with the smoke in the building.

An ambulance was also called to treat people at the scene.

Paramedics administered oxygen but nobody was seriously hurt or needed hospital treatment.

Two hours later two crews from Bury had to tackle the fire at Thingoe Hill.

There were reports of the fire being centred on the ground floor.
