FIREFIGHTERS rushed to an Ipswich sports centre today after a fire broke out in the grounds.Grass and gorse at the back of Gainsborough Sports Centre, Braziers Wood Road, went up in flames just before 6pm.
FIREFIGHTERS rushed to an Ipswich sports centre today after a fire broke out in the grounds.
Grass and gorse at the back of Gainsborough Sports Centre, Braziers Wood Road, went up in flames just before 6pm.
Two fire engines from Princes Street, Ipswich made their way to the scene. Fire crews had the fire under control within half and hour.
Carl Murton, duty officer at Gainsborough Sports Centre, said: "We just noticed that there was fire out the back. Luckily it was on the field, so it didn't affect the sports centre."
