A FIRE chief spoke today of his fear that a child may be injured by arsonists going on the rampage.

Hooligans destroyed three cars and garages in a nine-hour wrecking spree in an area at the rear of shops in Reynolds Road, Ipswich.

Assistant Divisional Officer Paul Seager said: "Our concern is that some poor innocent child could get hurt by these people. Those carrying out these fires stand a good chance of hurting themselves and others. They are not only destroying private property but are tying up public resources."

ADO Seager said he felt for people in the neighbourhood who are suffering at the hands of these culprits and having to endure the smoke, noise and inconvenience.

He continued: "If anybody knows anything about these fires we urge them to call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 so we can catch them before they hurt someone."
