Fire in field off Whatfield Road near Hadleigh

Around five acres of crops caught fire in a field in Suffolk today.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service was called to Whatfield Road, heading towards Hadleigh, just before 11.30am.

The brigade sent three fire engines, one each from Ipswich Princes Street, Hadleigh and Stowmarket.

Firefighters used hose reel jets and beaters to extinguish the blaze by just after 12.05pm.

No one was thought to have hurt during the incident.
