TWO people were killed when the car they were travelling in collided with a lorry and burst into flames in north Suffolk.
The head-on collision happened on the A143 Bungay bypass near Wortwell at 4.10pm yesterday and involved a HGV lorry and a car.
Both vehicles caught fire, and firefighters from Harleston, Long Stratton, Norwich and Bungay were called to fight the blaze and release the victims.
Two people in the car were pronounced dead at the scene. The victims will not be identified until police have informed relatives.
The East Anglian Air Ambulance said two men in the lorry, believed to be aged in their 20s, were taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.
One of the injured men suffered leg and other injuries. Last night both were not thought to be in life threatening conditions.

Witnesses at the scene described seeing a plume of thick black smoke rising from the burning vehicles, which could be seen in surrounding villages.
The intense heat of the fire had welded the lorry and the car together, making it difficult for firefighters to separate the vehicles.
The colour of the car was also no longer distinguishable because flames had burnt right through to the metal. The vehicle was a charred empty shell.
The road was blocked for more than four hours as accident investigation teams assessed the wreckage and traffic was diverted on alternative routes.
Motorists heading from Diss and Bungay along the A143 were diverted through the village of Wortwell, causing long delays.
