FIREFIGHTERS were called to more than 100 hundred incidents in Essex last night as people celebrated bonfire night.
The calls, between 6pm and 12am, related to 93 incidents. Many calls were made genuinely after people saw fire and smoke but turned out to be false alarms.
A large number were related to fireworks, fire officers said.
Incidents ranged from fireworks in post boxes to bushes and fences catching fire and bonfires burning out of control. None of the incidents were major and no-one was injured.
There were a handful of deliberately-set incidents involving mattresses, rubbish and cars.
