Competitors are preparing to put their agility to the test during an ‘It’s a Knockout!’ style obstacle course as part of a new charitable event this summer.

The big family fun day will take place on July 2 between 10am and 4pm at Jimmy’s Farm and will raise money to buy much-needed new playground equipment at Sproughton Primary School.

Visitors will be able to enjoy market stalls, sports displays, food and drink stands and live music, while watching people tackle a giant inflatable course filled with air, water and numerous other obstacles.

The ‘It’s a Knockout!’ contest headlines the event and will take place in two sessions, both morning and afternoon, providing businesses, schools and individuals the opportunity to pit their skills and wits against their peers.

In preparation for the challenge, Suffolk Rugby Club provided a free fitness training session last week at its ground in Humber Doucy Lane, Ipswich, to all business participants of the ‘It’s a Knockout!’ contest.

The family fun day is being organised by Paul Baker, chairman of charity Sproughton School Association, and is in aid of the village’s primary school, as well as multiple other charities nominated by participating teams.

Mr Baker said: “The Suffolk Rugby Club have been great this week and it’s been a lot of fun to see people getting motivated for what promises to be a mighty good day.

“We hope to see as many people as possible come along to enjoy everything we have on offer at the event.”

Corporate teams are being invited to enter and once they have raised £450 per team in sponsorship they can then continue to raise cash for a charity of their choice.

Individuals are able to enter by raising a minimum of £50 sponsorship each and schools may sign up for £350.

Already committed to take part are First Strokes Swim Schools and Town 102.
